HighLevel Update

HighLevel Email Sequences Are Live in Beta Labs

By Kenneth Villar··6 min read

HighLevel's Email Sequences framework is now live in Beta Labs, announced by co-founder Shaun Clark after an active private beta. It brings structured, multi-step email marketing sequences directly into the Campaign dashboard, so you can run sequential nurture tracks without opening the workflow builder or configuring backend automation triggers.

What are HighLevel Email Sequences?

HighLevel frames Email Sequences as the middle ground between a basic drip campaign and the full automation workflow builder. You get the automated power of sequential nurture tracks without having to open the workflow builder or wire up complex backend automation triggers just to send a drip.

Key features and capabilities

  • Single-threaded conversations: each follow-up threads directly into the previous message, keeping conversational context in the recipient inbox and your CRM log.
  • Smart stop-on-reply automation: when a prospect replies, the automation halts future steps for that contact to prevent redundant follow-ups.
  • Conditional step routing: set behavioral rules per step so a follow-up only fires if the preceding email was Delivered or Opened.
  • Flexible email styles: use rich, drag-and-drop HTML templates or raw plain-text layouts, depending on the campaign.
  • Granular analytics: monitor sequence-level metrics or drill into individual step-level statistics.

What early testers are saying

We love how easy it is to set up drip campaigns and having it auto-stop on reply is a smart feature.

Brian King, Flyingleapstudio.com

We plan to set up a 106-email sequence for a client. The auto-stop capability is brilliant, and a single thread makes so much sense.

Haydar Guven, Guventa.de

This might be old school, but love this. I feel like it just makes it easier to set up sequences for drip campaigns.

How to enable and use Email Sequences

  1. Go to Settings, then Beta Labs.
  2. Locate and enable the Email Sequences toggle.
  3. Go to Marketing, then Email, then Campaigns, and click Create New Sequence.
  4. Define your audience criteria, select your delivery delays, add step-level conditions, and add your content.
  5. Turn on Stop on Reply, review your layout, and launch.
  6. To audit performance over time, open the three-dot menu on your sequence and select Statistics.

For agencies running nurture across clients, this is a faster path than building a workflow when a client only needs a sequential email track. Stop-on-reply and per-step conditions cover most drip use cases without touching the automation builder.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find HighLevel Email Sequences?
Email Sequences are in Beta Labs. Enable them under Settings, then Beta Labs, then build one under Marketing, Email, Campaigns by clicking Create New Sequence. Performance is available from the three-dot menu under Statistics.
What does stop on reply do?
Stop on Reply is automation that halts the future steps in a sequence for a contact the moment they reply to one of the emails. It prevents awkward, redundant follow-ups after a prospect has already responded.
How are Email Sequences different from workflows?
HighLevel positions Email Sequences as the middle ground: you get sequential nurture and drip automation directly in the Campaign dashboard, without opening the workflow builder or configuring backend automation triggers for a basic drip.
Can I condition steps on opens or delivery?
Yes. Conditional step routing lets you set behavioral rules per step, so a follow-up email only fires if the preceding email was successfully Delivered or Opened by the contact.
Do Email Sequences support plain text and HTML?
Both. You can use rich, visual drag-and-drop HTML templates or raw plain-text layouts, depending on whether you are sending corporate newsletters or more personal sales sequences.
